Day 02 option # 01 Yangon – Bago – Yangon <coach> |
|
Bago, the ancient capital of the glorious Mon Dynasty, have
the old name “Hanthawadi " meaning kingdom of goose said to have
founded in 573 AD by two Mon princes from the capital Thaton. In
13th century AD Bago became the center of the Mon kingdom of "Ramanadesa"
which consist of all lower Myanmar. In 16th century Burmese took
over the capital when king "Tabinshwehti" annexed Bago to his "Taungoo"
second dynasty kingdom.. Bago now a day is the capital of Bago
Division, one of the 14 States and Divisions that constitute the
Union of Myanmar. Bago is famous for its cheroot industry.
Different brands of cheroot are available there. Other products
are rice, salt, dried fish and various handicrafts. Bago can be
reached by car or by train from Yangon. The journey takes just a
couple of hours.
After having breakfast at hotel and you will meet at Hotel
lobby proceed to Bago, 80km north east of Yangon<approx 1 ½
hour>. On the way stop at the Shwenyaungpin Nat Shrine to appeal
for a safe journey, visit Allied War Memorial Cemetery with
graves of 27,000 Allied soldiers who died in the Myanamr and
Assam campaigns of WW II, located at Htauk Kyant about 32km from
Yangon. In Bago visit include: 2000 year old Shwemawdaw Pagoda
(its golden dome inlaid with diamonds dominates the countryside)
next to the Kalyani Sima Ordination Hall, a 'Sacred hall of
Ordination' was originally constructed in 1476 by King
Dhammazedi, the famous alchemist king and son of Queen Shinsawpu
. The next place will be visited is the Mahazedi Pagoda
originally constructed in 1560 AD by King Bayinnaung with
stairways lead up the outside of the stupa, and from the top
there are fine views over the surrounding area and the local
market. Visitors For people who wish to have a glimpse of the
traditional way of Myanmar life, Bago is an ideal place to
visit. People are seen going about their business in a simple
and peaceful way - unspoiled by the urbanity of metropolitan
life. End your day with a visit of Hanthawadi palace excavation
site of former Mon palace ground. The square city measured 1.8
km along each side, the palace compound in the center known as "Kambawzathadi"
housed king Bayinnaung <1553–1599>. On the way to Yangon you may
stop over at Kyaik Pun Paya, built in 1476 by King Dhammazedi,
it consists of four 30meter-high sitting Buddha Images placed
back-to-back around a huge, square pillar.
If your time permit visit country famous Kha Khat Waing
monastery to observe Buddhist monks and novices daily
activities. Return to Yangon. Overnight in Yangon.

Day 02 option # 02 Yangon – Thanlyin – Yangon

The port city of Thanlyin is situated on the other side of
Yangon River. In 16th century Thanlyin was once known as a major
port and trading center for all lower Myanmar during the time of
the Portuguese, who sided with the Mon. in their struggle
against the Burmese Kings. Later the Portuguese adventure de
Brito established his own private kingdom. The ruin wall of
Lusitanian baroque styled buildings can still be seen today.
Thanlyin continues as a busy port.. During the colonial days the
British have imported some one millions of Indian for rice
cultivation. Thanlyin still host a great numbers of Indian
populations though Myanmar citizen but their customs and way of
life are still very much determined by the Hindu religion.
Breakfast at hotel and depart for Thanlyin It is an interesting
excursion across the river to Thanlyin and on to an interesting
Portuguese settlement sites with old brick buildings and church
built during 18th Century, the Sacred Heart Church built in 1870
by French Missionary in down town Thanlyin and continue to
Kyaikhkauk Pagoda rising on a hillock to the right of the road.
Just before this pagoda are the tombs of two famous Myanmar
Poets Laureate -- Natshinaung and Padethayaza, Kyaik-khauk is
not Myanmar Language but Mon dialect “ Kyaik means Pagoda and
Khauk means bent hermit Khauk or Khau-La-Ka. Then continue to
visit the unique Pagoda and proceed to Kyauktan <mid Island>
Pagoda, Ye Le Paya which literally means "the pagoda at the
centre of the river" at Kyauktan. It's appropriately named since
the complex is perched on a tiny island in the middle of the
river. In the temple there are pictures of other famous pagodas
all over Myanmar and even further afield Transfer to mid-Island
Pagoda by Sampan, small man rowing boats. Thilawar deep sea port
waterfront. Return to Yangon and overnight in Yangon.

Day 03 Yangon Sightseeing |

After breakfast at hotel and visit a full day tour to
discover the colorful old capital of Myanmar Highlight: Strand
Jetty and a crossing river by public ferry boat on where you may
observe the daily lives of people who came across the river from
other side of the city for working or selling their local
products and also you may see the native villages. After the
clients having the sightseeing on ferry boat continue vis to
Kyauk Htat Gyi Paya, the large reclining Buddha Image until
around 11:00am. Here Paya in Myanmar Language means a
common-term and preferred to all the venerated sacred objects
such as stupa, temple and Buddha image. Thus Chauk-htat –gyi is
called paya which refer not to the stupa ceti but to the Buddha
image in lying position or incumbent Buddha Image style. The
most interesting thing in this Paya is the eyes of Buddha made
by Traditional hand made Glass Factory. From there the next
place will be visited is The Bahahdur Shah Zafar Mausoleum , The
last Emperor in India, Bahahdur Shah Zafar (AD 1772-1862),was
born at the “RED FORT” , DELIHTI. His father was Emperor
AKBASHAH. The British government buried the Emperor and entombed
him according to the Islamic rites. Empress Zinat Mahal died on
17th July 1886 and was buried near the symbolic tomb of the
Emperor. The grand daughter Princess Raunag Zamani Begun was
buried next to her grand mother. The Mausoleum is also
frequently visited by dignitaries, government delegations and
other guests from the Indian sub-continent, who came to pay
their respects their last Emperor. Afternoon visit Karaweik
Royal garden on royal lake, the next place to be visited is
Bogyoke’s market <formally known as Scott's Market> a famous
shopping center to enjoy display of Myanmar souvenir and
handicrafts. Late afternoon we continue to visit Shwedagon
Pagoda, claimed to be the world richest golden stupa of two
thousand five hundred years old. The golden dome rises 98 meters
above its base and is covered with 60 tons of pure gold along
with numeric precious stones such as jade, ruby, sapphire and
diamond including a 76 carat solid diamond on its top. In where
you may observe the cultural, tradition and believes of local
people.
Breakfast at hotel and transfer to airport for your onwards
flight to complete this unique experience.
